There are some new things happening at the St. Joseph Island Triathlon in 2009, and we want to make sure you’re caught up on everything. Of course we’re still giving technical t-shirts, still have the best location, participants, spectators, and volunteers in the province, but there are other things happening that might surprise (and hopefully excite!) you.
1. New Venue - The kids won’t notice, but we’re moving the Adult races from the pier to the beach at Women’s Institute (W.I.) Park. This solves a lot of logistical problems for us, and we’re hoping creates a better venue for our athletes, sponsors, and spectators.
2. New Age Categories - We’re consolidating our age categories into 10 year groupings. This will make it tougher to land on the podium, but more meaningful when you do. Get training. See age categories >
3. Graduated Pricing - We are offering incentives to get your registration in early. Save up to $20 on your race fees by registering early. Register Now! >
4. New Time for KOS Races - We’ve moved the kids races up and compacted the schedule so that the event will finish earlier than ever before! See race schedule >
5. Featured Athlete Profiles - Our triathlon is nothing without the people who make it so special. This year we’re going to be profiling those athletes who bring our event to life.
6. Hall of Fame - They’re the best of the best, and we think they deserve some recognition. This year we’re inducting the inaugural class of St. Joseph Island Hall of Famers, in four categories (Male Athlete, Female Athlete, Volunteer, and Kids of Steel).
We think these changes are going to make Northern Ontario’s biggest and best Triathlon event even stronger, but we realize that change can be difficult. If you’ve got an opinion or suggestion regarding any of these changes, please drop us a note. We’d love to hear from you!
