Name: Scott McCron
Born: July 19, 1986, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario
Residence: Sault Ste Marie, Ontario
St. Joseph Island Triathlon Events Participated in: 2X sprint duathlon, 2x Team Relays
Favourite, most memorable Duathlon moment:
Winning the St Joseph Island sprint duathlon two years in a row, 3rd place at last years Starker-Mann Duathlon was a classic.
Favourite leg in the duathlon:
I only compete in duathlons. I love both the running and cycling leg. Both legs are my strong points. Swimming is my weakest disciple
Why Duathlon?
I use running and cycling as cross training for skiing. They are my favourite sports so I though combining them together in a race was fun idea. So I signed up for St Joseph Island Triathlon and never looked back. It was so much fun.
Occupation:
At this present I work for the Canadian Armed Forces (Army). I’m also a student attending Lake State University studying exercise science.
Bravest moment:
My bravest moments are when I train with serious elite athletes. Adam Kates is great example someone who train with a lot in the past for skiing.
Hope to inspire:
I love inspiring friends because friendship is important to me. I also try to motivate young athletes to have fun, win and achieve personal goals.
Motivation:
I try to have a variety in my training. I mean, if you do the same thing everyday in your training, it can get boring. Not only is variety good in training, it also helps cut down on injuries. Music is a great motivator for training. I never had knee pain or major injures in my athletic history so that’s a plus. I have been fortunate not to have ever been injured. Training partners are great choice because you can push each other and keep one another motivated.
