Just wanted to keep you up-to-date on the latest enhancements to your Island Tri:
(1) This year we will recognize and celebrate those competitors who have shown no signs of stopping; so accordingly we will not be lumping participants in a 60+ category. Nope. We are going to break it down into 10 year increments. We welcome new age categories 60-69, 70-79, 80-89, 90-99 . . .
(2) Given that the 14 to 15 years olds are in a race not only to the podium by also for a spot at the 2012 Ontario Summer Games, we will be posting on our website a list of those participants who have registered in this event. It will be updated regularly but not automatically. To access this list please visit 2012 Ontario Summer Games Northern Qualifier (found under “Event Information” on the menu).
Happy Canada Day! In the spirit of the day, we wanted to let you know that we’ve extended early-bird registration for the St. Joseph Island Triathlon for one week. Get your registration in before Friday, July 8th, and you’ll save $10 on all adult races.
“I can’t register now. I’m not sure I’ll be ready…”
Anyone who’s entered any race knows that the only way to guarantee you’ll be ready is to SIGN UP. And once you’ve signed up, tell all your friends. Post it on Facebook. Yell it from the top of the International Bridge. Then you’ll be COMMITTED. And, even if you pull a hammy between now and raceday, at least you’ll have saved yourself $10. That’s a win-win, hamstring notwithstanding.
“So what’s new this year?”
Red technical shirts for every participant, for one. We love seeing everyone wear our shirts around town, and thought we’d brighten up your wardrobe this year. Red is the new white. Also, in case you missed the announcement, the St. Joseph Island Triathlon is now the north region qualifying event for the 2012 Ontario Summer Games. That means that three female and three male triathletes in the 14 – 15 year old age group can qualify to compete at the 2012 games. Click here to find out more.
Early Bird Registration has been extended from July 1st to July 8th.
This gives you another week to sign up, so don’t put it off for too long.
Why not register now!
